Founded by Rocco Falconer, winner of Vodafone Foundation’s World of Difference Award in 2010, Planting Promise is a social enterprise giving Sierra Leoneans the opportunity to forge progress by linking education with profit making enterprises – farming, food processing, soap making, internet café and tie-dyeing.

It uses business to reinvigorate, deliver lasting change and generate wealth, using profits to fund free education.

Planting Promise has 5 schools teaching over 450 pupils, an adult education programme, vocational skills training and a summer school.

Current objectives are to relocate its nursery and primary school to new premises in central Freetown and to build a new secondary school in Eastern Freetown.

Athlone Group are in discussions with Planting Promise about helping support their efforts.
